The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the official timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 general elections across the country.

According to the timetable, the Presidential and National Assembly elections will hold on Saturday, February 20, 2027, while Governorship and State House of Assembly elections are scheduled for Saturday, March 6, 2027.

INEC also fixed the commencement of campaigns for the Presidential and National Assembly elections from November 18, 2026, to February 19, 2027, ending 24 hours before election day.

Campaigns for Governorship and State Assembly elections will begin on December 15, 2026, and close on March 5, 2027, also exactly 24 hours before the polls.

The commission further disclosed that Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) will commence in April 2026 and end in January 2027, giving eligible Nigerians ample time to register or update their voter details.

Political parties are expected to conduct their primaries between July 1 and September 30, 2026, while the submission of candidates’ lists to the commission will take place from October 1 to October 31, 2026.

INEC stated that the final list of candidates for all elective offices will be published on November 15, 2026.

The commission urged political parties, stakeholders, and voters to adhere strictly to the timetable to ensure a smooth and credible electoral process.
