The preferred governorship aspirant of Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, Senator Ahmed Wadada, has appealed to members of the All Progressives Congress and residents of Nasarawa State for forgiveness as he intensifies consultations ahead of the 2027 elections. Wadada made the appeal during a meeting on Tuesday with party stakeholders and supporters at the Nasarawa State Lodge in Abuja shortly before submitting his expression of interest and nomination forms. “As we approach the 2027 general elections, I want to urge us to continue to forgive ourselves because that is the best way to remain united as a people and achieve success,” he indicated.
He expressed appreciation for the support he has received across the state and pledged not to take it for granted. The senator also thanked Governor Sule for backing his candidacy, describing the move as a demonstration of trust and commitment to party unity. Wadada commended other aspirants who stepped aside following the governor’s endorsement.
“To my fellow aspirants who have supported what the governor has decided, I cannot thank you enough. May God reward you abundantly,”. He also acknowledged key party stakeholders, including the state APC Chairman, Dr Aliyu Bello, and other leaders, for their roles in strengthening the party.
A chieftain of the APC in the state, Dr Ahmed Mohammed Musa, called on party members to remain united and accept Wadada’s emergence. “While all aspirants are qualified, Wadada’s emergence should be seen as the will of God,” Musa indicated, calling for collective support. Similarly, the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Dr Emmanuel Akabe, called on residents to rally behind the aspirant.
“Supporting Senator Wadada would ensure continuity of the governor’s developmental strides,” he indicated. Also speaking, the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Danladi Jatau, expressed confidence in Wadada’s chances, citing the administration’s popularity. After submitting his forms, Wadada addressed journalists that all 13 local government chairmen in the state had endorsed his bid.
“The entire 13 local government chairmen of Nasarawa State are here. The entire legislature of Nasarawa State, from the Speaker, principal officers and members of the state assembly are here,” he showed. He outlined his economic vision, highlighting Nasarawa’s proximity to the Federal Capital Territory as a key advantage. “Nasarawa State is the closest state to the FCT.
Our proximity is an asset to us and we shall leverage on it,” he indicated. Wadada also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, linking increased federal allocations to recent economic reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidies, and called on Nigerians to support the administration’s policies.
