The Association of Independent Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria, AINPN, Southwest Chapter, is set to honour Dr Ezekiel Kayode Akande with the Beacon of Giving and Medical Mentorship Award during the 2026 Southwest Leadership Icon Award.
The event is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Ogunglana Hall, International Conference Center, University of Ibadan, Oyo State, by 3:00 p.m.
According to the organisers, the theme of the event is “Fostering Regional Prosperity: Economic and Security Integration in Southwest Nigeria".
The programme will feature a lecture, award presentation, and launching ceremony, bringing together leaders, professionals, traditional rulers, and stakeholders from across the Southwest region.
The guest speaker for the occasion is Professor Emilolorun Ambrose Ayelari, former deputy vice chancellor, administration, at the University of Ibadan.
The event will be chaired by Chief Adeniyi Michael Akintola, SAN, while the executive governor of Oyo State, His Excellency Engineer Seyi Makinde, is listed as special guest of honour.
Royal fathers expected at the event include His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife, and His Imperial Majesty, Oba Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa I, the Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The honour to Dr Akande recognises his contribution to giving, medical mentorship, public service, and community development.
