Nigerian sprinter Favour Ashe has commended the National Sports Commission for the conditions provided at Team Nigeria’s training camp ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. He described the facilities, accommodation and feeding arrangements as world-class, adding that athletes’ camp allowances had been paid in full.

Ashe said the arrangements had allowed the athletes to concentrate on training without being distracted by unresolved welfare concerns. Team Nigeria arrived in the United Kingdom early as part of preparations intended to help the athletes acclimatise before competition begins.

The Glasgow Commonwealth Games will hold from July 23 to August 2, 2026, with Nigeria expected to compete across athletics, weightlifting, boxing and Para sports. Athletics and Para athletics events are scheduled to run from July 27 to August 1.
