Galatasaray president Dursun Ozbek has confirmed there is no release clause in Victor Osimhen’s contract, delivering a firm message to the string of European clubs reported to be chasing the Super Eagles striker as his performances continue to attract admirers across the continent.

Ozbek went further, heaping lavish praise on the Nigeria international and insisting the club’s record signing will remain in Istanbul for years to come.

“Osimhen is the player that excites me the most after Metin Oktay among the strikers who have ever come to Galatasaray. He is an extraordinary player. We follow him with interest and admiration everywhere. He competes with high intensity as if he is in a match, even in training, without choosing matches. Sometimes we fear he might get injured, but he is a very good professional and takes great care of himself,” Ozbek said in quotes shared by Turkish publication Haberler.

On the question of a potential exit, the Galatasaray president was quoted as saying, “There is no exit clause in Osimhen’s contract. He is an extremely successful player who will serve Galatasaray for many years.

“When he was transferred, it was discussed that the transfer fee was high, but today it is believed that the money given is low and that the player’s value is much higher.”

Osimhen, 27, joined Galatasaray on a permanent deal worth €75 million last summer after an initial loan spell and has justified the fee. The former Napoli striker has scored 17 goals and provided six assists in 25 official appearances this season, including seven strikes in the Champions League, where the Turkish club have reached the Round of 16 for the first time in 12 years and will next face Liverpool.

The president’s statement comes amid reports from French outlet Footmercato that Bayern Munich have placed Osimhen on their shortlist as a potential long-term successor to England captain Harry Kane, with head coach Vincent Kompany said to have given internal approval for the pursuit.

Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, Juventus and Atletico Madrid have also been mentioned as clubs monitoring his situation, while Saudi Pro League clubs remain interested. However, Osimhen is believed to prefer remaining in Europe to continue competing at the highest level.
