Kylian Mbappé could leave Real Madrid at the end of the 2026–27 season if the club fails to meet his expectations, French journalist Daniel Riolo has suggested.

Speaking on French sports programme After Foot and later discussing the issue with Spanish broadcaster Cadena SER, Riolo said the forward’s future at the Spanish club could depend on whether the team develops in the way he wants.

“If he does not have the team he wants, it’s possible that he will leave,” Riolo said, adding that he did not believe Mbappé was happy with everything happening at Real Madrid this season.

The comments have fuelled speculation about the France captain’s future, although Riolo presented the possibility as his assessment rather than confirmed information from the player or the club.

Mbappé joined Real Madrid in 2024 after leaving Paris Saint-Germain and remains a key figure in the team’s plans. His contract runs until June 2029, meaning a departure in 2027 would likely require an agreement with the club or a major transfer arrangement.

Questions surrounding the forward’s relationship with Real Madrid have also emerged amid recent controversy over his knee injury and his treatment by the club’s medical staff. The situation has added to media discussion about his future.

However, there has been no official announcement from Mbappé or Real Madrid confirming that he intends to leave. For now, a possible departure remains speculation based on Riolo’s comments.
