The Peoples Democratic Party on Thursday cleared Plateau State governorship aspirant, Kefas Ropshik, to participate in the party’s governorship primary election ahead of the 2027 general elections. The screening exercise was held at the PDP national secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja, as the main opposition party intensifies preparations for the next electoral cycle across the country. Ropshik is seeking the party’s ticket to challenge the incumbent Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, who is expected to seek a second term in office. Speaking after the exercise, the PDP chieftain described the screening as a major milestone in his governorship ambition and reaffirmed his commitment to what he called a people-driven agenda for Plateau State.

“Earlier today, I was at the PDP Secretariat in Wadata Plaza for my screening exercise, which I will describe as another significant stride in my noble journey to serve the good people of Plateau State as their governor,” he indicated. Ropshik also expressed confidence in his vision for the state, insisting that his aspiration remained focused on development and inclusive governance. “The vision is clear, the resolve is unwavering, and the mission continues for my motto #PlateauFirst,”.

With the clearance, the aspirant is now set to formally contest in the PDP governorship primary, where delegates will determine the party’s flagbearer for the 2027 election in the state. The development comes barely three days after Ropshik submitted his Peoples Democratic Party nomination and expression of interest forms at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.

His appearance at the PDP secretariat had attracted attention after he arrived in an all-white kaftan and matching cap, accompanied by a large crowd of supporters and political associates, signalling the growing momentum around his campaign. journalist, Adebayo, has over 20 years of experience covering politics, health, metro, entertainment and properties
