Senator Solomon Adeola, who represents Ogun West Senatorial District, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State after winning the party’s primary election held in Abeokuta. 

The Chairman of the APC Governorship Primary Election Committee for Ogun State, Mr Wale Ohu, announced the result at the party secretariat, stating that Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, secured 304,055 votes to defeat his only challenger, Abayomi Hunye, who polled zero votes. 

According to the committee, there were 343,292 registered voters for the exercise, while 305,287 delegates and members were accredited to participate in the primary election. 

Following the announcement of the result, Adeola pledged to consolidate on the achievements of Governor Dapo Abiodun if elected in the 2027 governorship election. He also promised to sustain unity within the APC and work closely with party stakeholders across the state. 

The outcome positions the senator as the APC flag bearer in what is expected to be a closely watched governorship contest ahead of the 2027 general election in Ogun State.
