President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining democracy in Nigeria, declaring that the system of government will endure despite ongoing challenges. The President stated this in Abuja while receiving a high-level delegation from Enugu State led by Governor Peter Mbah at the Presidential Villa.
Tinubu said his government would take all necessary steps to ensure the realisation of the Nigerian dream, stressing that the hope of a better country is real and achievable through collective effort between the federal and sub-national governments. He noted that nation-building is not a one-person task but a shared responsibility requiring focus, consistency and commitment.
The President also expressed confidence that democracy would prevail in the face of intimidation, urging supporters to remain focused and ignore critics. According to him, his administration remains committed to building a nation of bright hope for future generations and would not be distracted by opposition voices.
During the visit, Tinubu commended Governor Peter Mbah for what he described as transformative leadership in Enugu State, particularly in the areas of security, infrastructure, healthcare and education. He said the visible progress in Enugu reflects the impact of broader economic reforms and improved cooperation between the Federal Government and the states.
In his remarks, Governor Mbah said the delegation was in Abuja to express solidarity with the President and appreciation for federal support to Enugu State. He said the relationship had earned the trust of the people of the state and openly declared support for Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
