Abia State Governor Alex Otti says his administration is repositioning the state from conventional trading towards manufacturing and digital commerce. He made the statement on Monday in Umuahia during the Igbo Day Lecture and Dinner organised by Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.

Otti said Abia’s long-established trading culture remained important but that the state was now focusing more on manufacturing and technology-driven commerce. He said the shift would allow businesses to reach wider markets through digital platforms rather than relying solely on physical shops.

The governor also said his administration was investing in digital skills through initiatives such as TechRise, noting that some trained Abians were already working remotely for international technology companies from Aba.
