Legal practitioner and former Ekiti State governorship candidate Tope Adebayo has urged the state to build an economy capable of creating sustainable opportunities for present and future generations. He spoke in Ado Ekiti during a programme organised by the State House of Assembly to mark Ekiti’s 30th anniversary.
Adebayo, who is a member of the State Economic Management Team inaugurated in 2023, said the next stage of Ekiti’s development should better connect education, skills, infrastructure and entrepreneurship with jobs, markets, investment and wealth creation. He argued that development should be measured by how widely citizens can access opportunities to prosper.
He also called for stronger cooperation among the executive, legislature, judiciary, traditional institutions, private sector and citizens. Adebayo commended successive administrations for their contributions to the state’s development and praised the Biodun Oyebanji administration for what he described as progress in fiscal transparency, infrastructure and the business environment.
