A former leader of the African Democratic Congress in Ekiti State, Ayodele David Adesua, has officially resigned from the party and aligned with the Peoples Democratic Party as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
David Adesua, who previously contested for the governorship under the ADC platform in both 2018 and 2026, is now seeking to secure the PDP ticket to represent Ekiti North Senatorial District in the Senate.
In a resignation letter dated April 21, 2026, and addressed to his ward chairman in Ikole Local Government Area, he confirmed his immediate exit from the ADC, describing the decision as necessary for the next phase of his political journey.
Reflecting on his time in the party, the politician highlighted his contributions, noting that he had been actively involved at various levels, including ward, local government, state, and national structures. He also pointed to efforts such as providing operational support and establishing party offices across multiple wards in his local government area.
Speaking on his defection, David-Adesua explained that his move was driven by a desire to better serve the people of Ekiti North, emphasizing the need for a stronger political platform to achieve his goals and deliver democratic benefits to his constituents.
His switch to the PDP comes amid ongoing political realignments in Ekiti State, as parties and aspirants reposition themselves ahead of upcoming elections, including the 2026 governorship poll and the 2027 general elections.
