The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has warned candidates seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions against accepting offers that do not pass through its Central Admissions Processing System, known as CAPS. JAMB issued the warning on Monday, October 12, urging prospective students to verify every admission offer through its approved platform before accepting it.

The board said admissions offered directly by institutions outside the approved JAMB process may not be recognised as valid, warning that candidates who accept such offers risk complications with their admission records and other academic processes. Under JAMB’s 2026 admission guidelines, recognised admissions must be processed through the board, with candidates able to obtain an official JAMB admission letter through its e-Facility platform.

JAMB explained that CAPS was introduced to automate and standardise admissions into tertiary institutions, allowing candidates to monitor their admission status and accept approved offers while reducing irregular and multiple admissions.

Candidates have therefore been advised to confirm their status through JAMB’s official website and CAPS before proceeding with any admission offered by an institution.
