Businessman and social media influencer Afolabi Michael Kazeem, popularly known as KC Luxury, arrived at the Federal High Court in Lagos in an ambulance on Friday, October 23, 2026, as his lawyers renewed efforts to secure his release on medical grounds. Kazeem, who is standing trial over alleged cocaine trafficking and money laundering, remained inside the ambulance while receiving oxygen.

A nurse from the Police Hospital in Falomo, Bukki Yahya, told Justice Musa Kakaki that Kazeem had been admitted to the hospital on October 7 and diagnosed with asthma and sepsis. She said his condition prevented him from being brought into the courtroom, prompting the judge to order that he be returned to the hospital.

Kazeem’s lawyer, Emefo Etudo, subsequently moved a fresh bail application dated October 16, arguing that his client’s health had deteriorated and that he required specialised medical treatment at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital. The defence claimed that his condition had worsened after he was moved from LUTH to a correctional facility earlier in October.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency opposed the application, arguing that Kazeem’s health condition had already featured in an earlier bail request rejected by the court on October 2. Prosecutor Abu Ibrahim also maintained that the defence had not produced sufficient medical evidence to justify his release and described the defendant as a possible flight risk.

Kazeem is standing trial alongside Boniface Freeman Ochoche Sule and Ikechukwu Ekugo Patriarch on a 22-count charge connected with the alleged trafficking of 184.5 kilogrammes of cocaine and money laundering. All three defendants have pleaded not guilty. Justice Kakaki adjourned ruling on the latest medical bail application until October 28.
