Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has intensified efforts to attract American and other international investors to the state, as his administration prepares to host the 2026 African Diaspora Conference and Expo, known as AFRICANDO.

The conference, scheduled for November 17 to 19 in Umuahia, is expected to bring together investors, business leaders, policymakers and development partners to explore trade opportunities and strengthen commercial relations between Africa and the United States.

Speaking on the investment drive, the governor's Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, said the event would provide a platform for international delegates to assess business opportunities in Abia, particularly in manufacturing, agriculture, energy, healthcare, logistics, financial services and technology.

Ajagba disclosed that the conference would feature a Deal Room and Investment Marketplace where investment-ready projects would be presented to prospective investors. The platform is expected to facilitate business partnerships, investor presentations and the signing of commercial agreements.

He said the administration's objective was to move beyond attracting international attention to securing tangible investments, expanding export opportunities and creating jobs. Delegates are also expected to visit manufacturing clusters, businesses and strategic economic locations across the state to assess investment prospects.
