President Bola Tinubu has approved six fresh appointments and renewals in the education sector, affecting major institutions under the Federal Ministry of Education. The appointments were announced in a statement by the Presidency on Wednesday.
According to the statement, Prof. Modupe Adeola Adelabu was appointed Chairman of the Governing Board of the National Examinations Council, NECO, while Prof. Ibrahim Dantani Wushishi was retained as Registrar and Chief Executive of NECO.
For the National Board for Technical Education, NBTE, President Tinubu appointed Prof. Babatunde Salako as Chairman of the Governing Board. The Presidency also noted that Prof. Idris M. Bugaje had earlier been reappointed as Executive Secretary of NBTE for a second and final term of five years.
In the polytechnic sector, the President approved the appointment of Engr. Dr. Bongfa Binfa as Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, N’yak-Shendam, Plateau State, for a single term of five years. He succeeds Dr. Mukaila Zakari Ya’u, whose tenure ended in March 2026. Before the appointment, Binfa served as Deputy Rector (Academic) at the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny.
President Tinubu also renewed the tenure of Prof. Chinwe Veronica Anunobi as Director and Chief Executive of the National Library of Nigeria for a final five-year term. The Presidency said the renewal is expected to provide continuity for ongoing reforms and support the completion of the National Library headquarters project in Abuja.
