Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has reaffirmed his support for Accord candidates contesting legislative seats in the 2027 general elections, clarifying that his political alliance with the All Progressives Congress and Peoples Democratic Party applies only to President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Adeleke made the clarification on Friday, October 23, following the inauguration of the Osun State Presidential Campaign Council for Tinubu. He said his backing for Accord candidates seeking seats in the Senate, House of Representatives and Osun State House of Assembly remained unchanged.

The governor explained that the coalition involving Accord, APC and PDP structures in Osun was formed solely to support Tinubu in the January 2027 presidential election. He said members of the participating parties would therefore remain free to campaign for their respective legislative candidates despite cooperating at the presidential level.

Adeleke said the coalition would work to deliver more than the 1.5 million votes earlier pledged for Tinubu in Osun. He urged political stakeholders to set aside differences in pursuing the presidential objective while maintaining their individual party interests in other elections.

The governor also addressed the lingering local government dispute in Osun, saying discussions with the Federal Government had reached an advanced stage and that he expected positive developments soon. He did not announce a specific timeline for the resolution.
