Blessing, whose real name is Blessing Okoro, made the comments during a video call with Nollywood actress Doris Ogala. During their conversation, Ogala told her that claims about her alleged drug use had circulated on social media while she was in detention.
Responding, Blessing dismissed the allegations and criticised people for making assumptions about her personal life without knowing her directly.
She said that social media users often form opinions about public figures based on online discussions rather than personal knowledge.
The controversy followed allegations made earlier this month by social media critic VeryDarkMan, who claimed that Blessing and her partner, businessman Ikechukwu Ogbonna, popularly known as IVD, had used drugs. Those claims remain allegations, and Blessing has now publicly rejected the suggestion that she is addicted to drugs.
Her reported release came after months in custody over separate fraud-related cases brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. She has pleaded not guilty to the charges, which include allegations relating to property transactions and money collected following claims about a cancer diagnosis.
Her release does not mean the cases have been concluded. The legal proceedings remain separate from the public debate over the drug-use allegations.
