President Bola Tinubu has nominated six executive directors for the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), forwarding their names to the Senate for confirmation.

The nominations, announced on Friday by the President's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, comprise three serving directors proposed for another term and three new nominees. If confirmed, all six will serve five-year terms.

The returning nominees are Abiodun Adeniji for Finance and Accounts; Ogbugo Kalu Ukoha for Distribution Systems, Storage and Retailing Infrastructure; and Mustapha Lamorde for Health, Safety, Environment and Community.

The three new nominees are Mobolaji Tajudeen Musa for Hydrocarbon Processing Plants, Installations and Transportation Infrastructure; Ogechukwu Modie for Economic Regulations and Strategic Planning; and Said Abutalib for Corporate Services and Administration.

Tinubu has urged the Senate to consider the nominations expeditiously, citing the need for institutional continuity and stronger regulatory oversight. In a related development, the President also approved Jumoke Gafar's appointment as Secretary to the Board and Authority and Legal Adviser, subject to the statutory processes under Section 46 of the Petroleum Industry Act.
