England women’s head coach Sarina Wiegman has signed a two-year contract extension that will keep her in charge of the Lionesses until the end of the 2029 Women’s European Championship. The Football Association confirmed the new agreement on Monday, October 19, 2026.

The 56-year-old Dutch coach has enjoyed a highly successful spell since taking charge in September 2021, guiding England to European Championship titles in 2022 and 2025. She also led the team to their first Women’s World Cup final in 2023, where they finished runners-up to Spain.

Wiegman said she was delighted to continue with the squad, describing the England job as one of the best in football. She stressed, however, that her immediate focus remains securing qualification for the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil, with England due to face Ukraine in a two-legged play-off in November and December.

Her new deal will also cover the 2027 UEFA Women’s Nations League, which will serve as part of the qualification process for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Wiegman has now reached five consecutive major international tournament finals, including Euro 2017, which she won as head coach of the Netherlands.
