Suspected gunmen have killed a woman and her daughter during an attack on a poultry farm in Igushin via Ala, in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State. The incident occurred on Thursday night, according to multiple reports published on Friday, April 10, 2026.
Reports say the attackers, said to be about five in number, gained access to the farm by scaling the fence before opening fire. The woman killed was identified in the reports as the owner of the poultry farm, while her daughter was also shot during the attack.
Eyewitness accounts indicated that three persons were initially taken away by the assailants during the raid. However, the Ondo State Police Command later said two victims were successfully rescued in a coordinated operation.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in Ondo State, Abayomi Jimoh, said the command strongly condemned the attack and had put security measures in place in the area. He added that efforts were ongoing to apprehend those responsible and bring them to justice.
The latest attack has added to growing security concerns in parts of Akure North and surrounding communities, where residents have repeatedly complained about kidnappings and violent attacks in recent months.
