Malami, his son and his wife had earlier pleaded not guilty to the amended 16‑count charge filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which alleges money laundering and unlawful acquisition of assets amounting to about ₦8.7 billion.
In her ruling, the judge directed that Malami and his son be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja, while his wife was ordered to be remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre in Niger State, pending the hearing of fresh bail applications.
Justice Abdulmalik adjourned proceedings to March 6 to hear the bail applications and fix a date for the commencement of the trial.
