Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Fansan Yamma, have rescued a 40-year-old man and recovered 18 rustled cattle following an attack by suspected terrorists in Rambo village, Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State. The operation was carried out on Sunday, October 18, after security personnel received a distress call from the community.

Operation Fansan Yamma spokesman Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja said troops from Sector 2, working with local vigilantes, moved into the area after receiving reports that suspected terrorists were attempting to abduct residents and steal livestock. The troops reportedly engaged the attackers in a gunfight, forcing them to withdraw.

The rescued resident was identified as Suleiman Maiyaki Ikara. According to the task force, Ikara and the recovered cattle were later handed over to the district head of Rambo village for further action.

In a separate operation the same day, soldiers working with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency raided suspected drug-trafficking locations in Dakin Kowa, Karaye and Gubba communities in Maiyama Local Government Area. Four suspects were arrested and substances suspected to be illicit drugs were recovered.

The suspects and recovered substances were handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation. The military said operations against terrorism, kidnapping, cattle rustling and other criminal activities would continue across its area of responsibility.
