The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, has assured Nigerians that the country’s security situation is steadily improving, declaring that the insurgent group, Boko Haram, has been significantly degraded and reduced to a weakened force.

Akume gave the assurance while receiving members of the Renewed Hope Fulbe Campaign Organization, a grassroots Fulani mobilization platform, at his office in Abuja. According to a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yomi Odunuga, the SGF said ongoing military operations have continued to shrink the operational capacity of terrorist groups across affected areas.

He said sustained security operations have diminished the strength of terrorist elements, noting that their attacks have become sporadic and largely ineffective. Akume added that the Federal Government remains committed to supporting the armed forces and other security agencies with the resources required to sustain the momentum against insurgency and related threats.

The SGF also used the meeting to restate the administration’s determination to deepen security and stability across the country, while encouraging continued grassroots support for national peace-building efforts.
