A Federal High Court in Lagos has refused to grant bail to businessman and social media influencer Afolabi Kazeem, popularly known as KC Luxury, who is standing trial over alleged trafficking of 184.5 kilogrammes of cocaine and money laundering. Justice Musa Kakaki delivered the ruling on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, holding that the defendant failed to provide sufficient medical evidence to justify his release from custody.

The ruling followed an application by Kazeem's lawyer, Emefo Etudo, who requested bail to enable his client to receive specialised treatment at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital. During an earlier court appearance on October 23, the influencer was brought to the court premises in an ambulance while receiving oxygen. His lawyer maintained that Kazeem's health had deteriorated and that he required urgent specialist medical attention.

However, the prosecution, represented by Abu Ibrahim, opposed the application, arguing that the medical documents presented did not establish exceptional circumstances warranting bail. Justice Kakaki agreed, ruling that the defence had failed to produce convincing medical certification or demonstrate a significant change in circumstances since the court's earlier decision. The judge maintained that claims of serious illness requiring specialised treatment must be supported by appropriate medical assessments.

Despite rejecting the application, the court directed officials at the Ikoyi Custodial Centre to provide Kazeem unrestricted access to medical professionals and specialists whenever necessary. The judge also ordered an accelerated hearing to ensure that the criminal proceedings move forward without unnecessary delays. The case was subsequently adjourned until Monday, November 2, 2026, for the commencement of trial.

Kazeem is being prosecuted alongside Boniface Freeman Ochoche Sule and Ikechukwu Ekugo Patriarch over allegations involving cocaine trafficking and money laundering. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency accused the defendants of involvement in the attempted export of a substantial quantity of cocaine and related financial transactions. The defendants have pleaded not guilty to the charges, and the allegations remain subject to determination by the court.
