The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old man, Okiki Muhammed Adewusi, over suspected involvement in cult-related activities and illegal possession of firearms.

The arrest followed an intelligence-led operation by officers of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Squad, which resulted in the recovery of two locally made pistols, three live cartridges and a battle axe.

The command's spokesperson, Deputy Superintendent of Police Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed the development in a statement released on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.

According to the police, Adewusi, popularly known as Baba Obo, was arrested around 8 p.m. on Monday, October 26, in the Ore area of Atan, Ogun State.

The operation was carried out by officers attached to SWAT Base 7, Abule Iroko, Sango-Ota, following intelligence concerning the suspect's alleged activities.

Police said a search of Adewusi's residence resulted in the discovery of a locally manufactured pistol and three live cartridges.

The command further alleged that the suspect admitted during preliminary questioning to being a member of the Eiye Confraternity.

Following his arrest, investigators reportedly obtained additional information that led them to another location on Tuesday, October 27.

During the follow-up operation, conducted at approximately 6:30 a.m., officers recovered a second locally made pistol and a battle axe.

The recovered weapons were secured as exhibits to assist ongoing investigations.
Police authorities said the operation demonstrated the importance of intelligence gathering in tackling suspected cultism, illegal firearms possession and violent crime.

The command also disclosed that efforts were underway to identify and arrest other individuals who may be connected to the investigation.

Investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the recovered weapons and establish whether additional firearms or suspects are involved.

Reacting to the operation, Ogun State Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni commended the SWAT personnel for their vigilance and professionalism.

He reaffirmed the command's commitment to disrupting criminal networks and reducing the circulation of illegal firearms across the state.

Ojajuni encouraged residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information about suspicious activities within their communities.

The police commissioner assured the public that the command would continue to respond to useful intelligence and undertake measures aimed at protecting lives and property.

Investigations into the suspect's alleged activities remain ongoing, and the police have not announced any conviction in connection with the case.
